THE
funeral of George Best in Belfast on Saturday hasn’t just
forced a shut-down in football fixtures across Northern Ireland.
A number of other events and sports have taken decisions to close
in a mark of respect for the former Manchester United and Northern
Ireland legend – among them a kickboxing gym in east-Belfast.
Head coach of Prokick Gym, Billy Murray, last night cancelled all
classes on Saturday and asked all his members to attend Best’s
funeral.
Murray’s gym is located next to Dundela football club and
near Best’s family home.
“On any given Saturday over 200 people would use the gym between
10am and 3pm,” said Murray, a former world champion.
“Out of respect for George Best and his family all classes
have been cancelled. Saturday will be a momentous day for Northern
Ireland and sports fans from all codes. We want to be part of that
occasion to say farewell to the greatest footballer of all time.”
