Kickboxers Take Their Competitive Bows

Almost 40 wannabe fighters from all over the country took their competitive bows at a massive sparring session at the world famous ProKick Gym in Belfast It was judgement day for a host of novice kickboxers as they took their competitive bows at a massive sparring session at the world famous ProKick Gym in Belfast .

Almost 40 wannabe fighters from all over the country and as far away as Strabane, took to the ring with most for the first time, all wanting a taster of the contact side of the sport – this is the latest in an ongoing series of new classes designed at bringing through new talent.

“We came up with the this new concept a couple a few months ago to give some of our no-contact kickboxers a chance to taste ring action and all that goes with competitive kickboxing,” said kickboxing figurehead Billy Murray. “these type of classes have grown into one of our most popular - its perfect for the novice, they can spar in a completely safe environment with other beginners which helps give the young kickboxers the chance of action before they would ever think about stepping up into the fighters class ."
Such is the growth in interest in kickboxing in Northern Ireland, that there is now a waiting list for these type of classes.
