SETANTA SPORTS, the network behind Irish soccer’s successful Setanta Cup tournament, is about to show off kicks of a different kind this winter.
The channel has forged a link-up with Belfast’s busy-bee promoter Billy Murray to launch a schedule of kickboxing shows in the build-up to Gary Hamilton’s world title showdown with Mohammad Samir at the Ulster Hall on December 19.
The first of series of Murray’s shows packs a punch from October 24-28 and Setanta will run fights every night thereafter.
“Setanta Sports is delighted to showcase the best Irish fighters in action against top international opponents in championship bouts. Our coverage will also give viewers the chance to watch some of the best kickboxers in the world today, including the world’s top fighter, Mohammed Samir of
France”, said Setanta Sports Director of Marketing, Eleanor Collier.
“Setanta Sports has come a long way in the nine months since we became a full-time channel, especially in Northern Ireland. We have reduced the price of the service this season, down to £10 per month and we have also increased the number of channels in the bundle for this price (Setanta Ireland, Setanta Sports 1, Setanta Sports 2, Celtic TV, and Rangers TV). Our Ulster viewers now have access to large volumes of soccer (SPL, Serie A, World Cup Qualifiers, UEFA Cup, Setanta Cup, German, French and Dutch leagues), and they can also watch the performances of Ulster in exclusive Celtic League rugby action as well as Motorsport, Gaelic Games, and our nightly discussion programme “The Hub” which we hope will soon become the top forum for discussion and debate on Sport in Ireland (7pm and 10.30pm).”
Setanta’s kickboxing coverage goes between the ropes on October 24 with action from the Ulster Hall, boasting the likes of world champ Gary Hamilton and Wexford’s Sean Collier and other top fighters from all over Ireland.
The shows will also give fight fans a chance to catch up on Mohammad Samir, the most dangerous man on the planet.
There will be a host of Irish fighters on show, including female champion Lydia Braniff.

Monday 24th October 23.00hrs: International kickboxing from the Ulster Hall Belfast featuring Wexford's Sean Collier against
Spaniard Chinto Mordillo. Belfast's Gary Hamilton will defend his WKN Professional Intercontinental Lightweight title against Portugal's Joel Furtado. Belfast's Paul Day challenges for the Intercontinental Bantam-weight title against Ugandan Godfrey Asilmwe. Also features other Irish fighters against International opponents in
championship bouts with Downpatick's Gary Noade fighting for world honours against Joseph Mukasa of Uganda.

Tuesday 25th October 23.00hrs: International kickboxing from the Ulster Hall Belfast. France's Mohammad Samir, who is classed as pound for pound the best fighter in the world today, will put his Thai-boxing WKN World Light welterweight championship on the line against the Belgian and European champion Damien Velvelidis in non-stop action.
Irish Heavyweight championship action - featuring Freddie Kinnersley of Portadown crosses Chris Dowling of Galway to see who will be crowned kickboxings King of Ireland.
All female action with a European Atomweight championship bout, Belfast's Lydia Braniff who is the current Irish & British Champion challenges Finland's Maritta Saastamoinen for European glory.

Wednesday 26th October 23.25hrs: World Championship kickboxing is back at the Ulster Hall Belfast. Gary Hamilton will square up in world championship action in the WKN world featherweight title contest against Ukrainian Ewgenij Mytyay.
Belfast's British Super-welterweight champion Andrew Grimason, puts his title on the line against the English champion and number one contender Barinder Singh of Leister in hard hitting full-contact action.

Thursday 27th October 23.00hrs: Highlighted programme from the Odyssey Arena featuring International matches in a world class line-up in Ireland's biggest ever kickboxing extravaganza. European Female action with Irelands Pocket Rocket, Lydia Braniff takes on Natalia Grabowska of Poland for European domination. The battle of the Celt's - WKN Heavyweight Celtic title is contended by Freddie Kinnersley of Portadown and Steve Bonner of Scotland, Aberdeen. European Super Heavyweight Thai-Boxing action with Oliver Van Dame from Germany faces Aurel Boccoci from Romania in knock out action. Andrew Grimason is in line for a crack at a European title with Farid M'Laika of Switzerland.

Friday 28th October 00.25hrs: The concluding part of Ireland biggest ever kickboxing showcase from Belfast's Odyssey Arena which features a full International and world championship line-up.
The worlds top fighter, Mohammed SAMIR of France puts his unbeaten record on the line of an incredible 106 fights with 106 wins, can he make it 107 straight victories in World Thai boxing action against Sergio Martinez of Portugal.
Kilkenny's hard man Vinny Di Ruscio squares up with Mohamed Kodad of France in an International bout.
Gary Hamilton continues his quest to claim the undisputed champion of the world but before he can do that Yacine Mahillon of Belgium stands in his way in this International Prestige bout.
WKN Light Heavyweight British title is on the line with Neil Baxter of Belfast and Steve Nailen of Scotland in an all Celt affair.
