WHO'S GOING TO BE THE DADDY...& MUMMY
Belfast
girl Andrea McAllister has had her sporting career put on hold because
of a new addition to the family that has decided her or she will
not arriving as planned.
Kickboxing fanatic Andrea, whose partner is world champion Gary
Hamilton, had hoped to return to training just days after giving
birth this week.
But the 23-year-old has been told she must go through a caesarean-section
today (Friday 2nd Sept) because her bouncing baby is kicking in
the wrong direction.
Andrea, who is also a kickboxing instructor, had her heart set on
a fifth competitive fight in December at the Ulster Hall but instead
she must look to the New Year before she trade punches and kicks
again.
However, the good news for Andrea is that surgeons are impressed
by her physical condition and have suggested her recovery period
may be quicker than most women who have gone through the experience.
“I was fortunate to be in good shape before the pregnancy
and therefore my stomach muscles should repair sooner than most,”
said the anxious mother-to-be.
Andrea was at ringside in Carrickfergus last Sunday when partner
Gary won by knock-out in the second round of a scheduled 5 rounder
- in an Ulster V Scottish select on the ‘Kings of the Castle’
show at the Carrickfergus Leisure Centre.
Her coach, former world champ Billy Murray said: “Andrea is
an inspiration to women who would like a healthier, fitter lifestyle.
She is going through a major operation but feels that half the battle
has already been won because of her physical condition.”
