The second in the series of ‘PROKICK
SAYS’ children’s competition day was another successful
night at the Prokick Gym in Belfast .
Even more underage talents took part in the sequel event aimed at
improving fitness, discipline and co-ordination.
Capital F for fun was the aim of the day which also gives young
kickboxers an opportunity to experience competition using their
kickboxing and martial art skills.
A Prokick coach Fran Spence said: “Our ProKick Kids are not
allowed to compete in full-contact type fighting until they are
15 years of age. So, from the age of five they are learning the
art of kickboxing but without the contact level yet still learning
the true values of the the real thing - kickboxing.
“We wanted to give the young members an
opportunity to practice, mixing competition with fun. The idea stems
from a game Mr Billy Murray invented which we all have played for
many, many years at the gym, Prokick Says, our version of Simple
Simon Says.
“ Everyone is a winner and everyone goes home with a medal.
It’s important to us at Prokick Gym that children learn about
self-discipline, self-defence and grow up in a respected and disciplined
environment, our motto is Truth discipline& respect these are
three key watch words which we try in instill to all our member.”
The Prokick Says fun day now take place once a month at Murray's
Wilgar Street gym in east-Belfast.
Young members also get a chance to mingle with world champion kickboxers
Gary Hamilton and Lydia Braniff, as well as photo opportunities
cherished.
