A
team of young Northern Ireland sports stars will soon be getting
their bags packed for a summer holiday – in the winter!
Budding kickboxing stars aged six-to-12 have not been selected
yet for a trip to Switzerland, where they will display their
skills at the foot of the snow-covered Alps in November.
The unique venture, led by kickboxing legend Billy Murray
and his Prokick Gym, is geared toward giving the youngsters
a rare opportunity to experience a different lifestyle in
a country where Murray spent three years developing his fight
career.
“Switzerland is a wonderful place and the kids selected
to visit are getting a fantastic opportunity,” said
Murray.
“Some of the children have told me they won’t
be going on summer holidays, so this is great chance for them
to have a break as well as being involved in an International
event. The only downside is now we’re on a major campaign
to raise the money for our selected teams.”
The promising talents will compete in light-contact bouts
and demonstrations.
Murray added: “Prokick Gym has been going to Geneva
for many years, taking professional and amateur fighters there
but this is the first time children have been given the chance
to see the place.”
Parents have also been invited and Prokick has set-up a travel
club to aid arrangements.
More information on the trip will follow, any ProKick member
wanting to travel with the teams please drop us a line or
