“ProKick team ready for action agian”

NEW world champion Andrew Grimason has shown he will not rest on his laurels by returning to the ring just four weeks after reaching the peak in amateur kickboxing.
The east-Belfast man will lead a Northern Ireland select to Geneva on May 6 to face a Swiss team while still on a high following his recent defeat over Stevie Kitchener in Scotland.
Grim Reaper Grimason will be joined by current world featherweight champ Gary Hamilton, former Linfield star Ian Young, Saintfield title contender Stuart Jess and adopted team-mate, Scotland’s Alexander White.
Grimason said: “I’m still buzzing about winning the world title. It’s a fantastic feeling; I’ve been walking about with an extra inch in my heels because I am top of the world.”
Grimason took the world Light middleweight crown after a run of ill-fortune in the ring left his pondering his future. His concerns were not eased when Scot Kitchener claimed the 22-year-old was “all washed up” after a shock loss in the Odyssey Arena last June. But now he feels unstoppable.
“After my first career loss I didn’t know which way to turn,” said Grimason.
“My coach, Billy Murray, said I would turn things around but I drifted for a while. At the start of the year I really began working hard again and the reward has been unbelievable.”

Ian Young, who suffered a controversial defeat in his bid to win the Celtic title in Scotland earlier this month, aims to return to winning ways in Geneva.
Young was on the reverse of a hotly disputed points decision in Aberdeen, where the title went to Scotland’s Ziggy Ferguson.
“I won’t let the Celtic title loss get to me. In fact, it has made me more determined to go after it again,” said Young, a two-time league title winner with Linfield.

Gary Hamilton, who is expected to fight for the lightweight world title this year, is looking forward to limbering up for his next world title aim, while Stuart Jess, an impressive winner in Scotland this month is keen to make his mark in Switzerland.
