BILLY IN THE USofA

BELFAST fight promoter Billy Murray is not a betting man. But this weekend the former world kickboxing champ will gamble big in Las Vegas as he tries to bring the K1 phenomenon to his native city.
The growth in Murray’s sport all over Ireland was displayed in a recent shows at the Ulster Hall, Waterfront Hall and the Odyssey Arena that were screened live throughout Europe and in 19 different languages and broadcast all over North and South America on ESPN. Murray’s partner Adele, who has judged on some of the world's biggest events will accompany him in a bid to bring the K1 fight system that is taking the world by storm.
K1 attracts the Hollywood A-list to ringside and million dollar investment through tourism and Murray believes Belfast can meet the demands of its promoters.

He said, "Everyone in the world has either heard of K1 or Billy Murray (RIGHT) with Daisukewatched it on television. It is a massive event that boasts the best fight-artists of all codes in the one ring. In Japan and the United States it's the biggest pay-per-view event. I am going to Las Vegas as a guest of K1 with a view to bringing the show to Belfast.
"It's time Belfast had something this big. We used to host great boxing shows in some of our darkest days and now that we have progressed, we should have the confidence to invite some of the richest and most influential sports people.
“We have great tradition of breeding the best fighters, from boxing to karate and judo to kickboxing. It's only natural that the best fight show on earth comes to Belfast."

If Murray succeeds in luring K1 to Belfast, it will attract an even bigger world wide audience than the recent successful UFC event at the Odyssey arena.
