Northern Ireland’s biggest and most successful kickboxing gym group is planning to expand all over the country – and is now scouting for a suitable locations.
Kickboxing in west Belfast is set for a timely boost with the news that ProKick Gym’s Shankill club is to reopen Thursday night.
Both Darren and Stevie will be there to help kick-start the club.
The gym, based out of Shankill Leisure Centre will reopen on August 23 with the first class starting at 6.30.
“There is a huge hunger for the sport in north and west Belfast,” said ProKick founder and former four weight world champion Billy Murray. “I’m delighted to be able to announce the reopening of our gym in the Shankill.
At ProKick, we pride ourselves on being the best kickboxing academy in the country. We welcome beginners and we cater for people who want to get fit as much as people who want to be champion of the world. And we can produce champions of the world!”
To celebrate the re-launch, several of those champions – including Belfast hero Gary Hamilton – will be in attendance.

Prokick has been built on three fundamental watch words – Truth, Discipline, Respect. They are instilled into our members and they carry them with them at all times. Our members come from both communities – always have done – and I’d like the Derry gym to be exactly the same. Kickboxing is the inclusive sport of tomorrow.”
Murray said he was keen to meet with operators of hotels, leisure complexes and other kickboxing clubs or individual members who are keen to work with ProKick. They can ring him on 028 9065 1074 or email on info@ProKick.com
