Prokick hits Lurgan
County Armagh

Billy Murray was honoured to officially open the new gym. Northern Ireland’s most famous kickboxing name ProKick is heading to Lurgan to start running a class at the brand new ‘Well-Fit’ Training Centre. The former world professional four weight world champion, Billy Murray was honoured to officially open the new gym. The ProKick founder and chief coach was also approached by ‘Well-Fit’ owner Stevie McGuigan to provide kickboxing classes that matched those within the ProKick HQ in Belfast and the other 11 Prokick clubs across the country.
“We have a number of franchised ProKick gyms across Northern Ireland,” said Murray. “We didn’t have any in County Armagh and after meeting Stevie, I liked his ideas for ‘Well-Fit’ and his thoughts on where ProKick could fit within it. ‘Well-Fit’ will be a class above other similar gyms and I’m delighted that ProKick is involved.

He added: “Our classes, which will be taught by coaches from ProKick HQ – so there is every chance a world champion will be amongst them –, will run every Monday and Thursday evening and Saturday mornings.”

“I’m delighted Billy has agreed to back us with the ProKick name,” said Mark Henry manager at ‘Well-Fit’. “There is no-one better in Ireland to teach this sport and to have him in ‘Well-Fit’ is quite a coup for us.
“I met Billy around 20 years ago, when I was a young kid, who did a kickboxing demo at a shop opening. He made an impression on me then and I’ve followed his career since. When you think of kickboxing, you think of Billy Murray.”

The owner Mr McGuigan decided to build ‘Well-Fit’ because he saw that Lurgan was short of an inclusive membership-only health, fitness and well-being club. He added: “I set out to develop a club in Lurgan where anyone of any ability can come and exercise at their own pace, with their own personal trainer in a fun and friendly environment.”

Respected personal trainer Mark Henry – who brings a wealth of experience from David Lloyd, LivingWell, Fitness First and Harpers – has joined McGuigan to make ‘Well-Fit’ a great success.
