“Kilkooley ladies get knocked out by surprise visit”

Women’s group gets KicK in right direction
It was Ladies only at the Kilcooley Women’s Education Group in Bangor – well so they thought! The group recently teamed up with the ProKick Gym in Belfast asking for an instructor to help KicK their Ladies into shape for 2007. The Group thought that former world champ, Billy Murray would send down a female coach for the five month course but were shocked when Billy himself turned up to take the class.
Alison Blayney organiser of the fitness programme for the women had this to say “We were gobsmacked and kind of nervous when Billy arrived because we didn’t know what to expect. All we knew was that there was an instructor coming from Prokick and we just assumed that they would be female. I can speak for all the group - we had a great time and can’t wait for the next class. It has really given us something to aim for, for this year. And who knows Billy may even get a couple of contenders for the ring.”
The Kilcooley ladies group received funding from the Big Lottery Active Lifestyles programme, for equipment and the kickboxing sessions. For information on the health programme, contact Helen Clarke, Health Development Worker on 028 9147 8292
