Derry city’s Mayor Thompson comes out in support of ProKick's event at the
Millennium Forum.

Mayor Alderman Drew Thompson joined promoter Billy Murray as well as TV favourite Joe Lindsay to help launch the Brawl on The Wall Derry is gearing up for one of its biggest sporting nights in recent years – and the mayor is leading the excited residents of the Maiden city.
Mayor Alderman Drew Thompson joined promoters Billy Murray and Darren Dougan as well as TV favourite Joe Lindsay to help launch the Brawl on The Wall, a major international kickboxing show set for the Millennium Forum on September 29.
Mayor Thompson was informed that this is the first time Prokick were bringing one of their major events to the Maiden City. “I think this is a good coup for Derry city. It’s the first time Prokick is coming here and I believe there will be a good attendance at the contest.” Mayor Thompson went on to say, “There has been some talk about the show already but as it gets closer to the time there should be a good reception from the people here.”
Prokick events like these are usually staged in Belfast at the Odyssey Arena, Waterfront Hall and the Ulster hall. The Mayor added “We’re the second City in Northern Ireland and we need to be attracting all types of events like this here.”

The show will see local hero Dougan, push for a WKN ( World kickboxing Network) European title, just one of three European titles up for grabs on the night.
“There is a tremendous appetite for kickboxing in the north west and we are going to feed a little of the hunger,” said former four-time four-weight world champion Murray. “We, through the ProKick organisation, have been working hard to secure some of the best fighters available from across Europe. They are going to be pitted against the very best of Ireland, north and south.
“Fans of the sport are in for a treat!”

The Belfast man will too defend his WKN European belt to Germany’s Uwe Menzzer - the hard hitter No1 ranked from Hamburg.
Joe Lindsay, a TV favourite through his shows including inside Out and Getaways, will be MC on the night.

Scwarzkopf’s Brendan Thompson withMillenniums forums event manager Paul Mason and Billy Murray.It has also been announced that renowned hair products company Schwarzkopf will sponsor the show. It’s the third time recently that Schwarzkopf have been involved after they also backed a show at the Falls Leisure Centre and the more recent Italian Job II.

Company area director Brendan Thompson, a keen kickboxing fan, said he was delighted to continue the links with the sport, especially with the involvement of ProKick.
“Schwarzkopf are a grade A company and we’re happy to be associated with another grade A promotion run by Billy Murray’s group. This is an ongoing investment from us.”
