Saintfield man Stuart Jess jetted out to France yesterday (Thursday) ahead of the biggest fight of his career as he attempts to win over the ten thousand strong partisan crowd at the Palace De Sport in Marseille set to support French Hero Mohamed Samir this weekend.
To heap pressure on the young Prokick fighter - he fights LIVE on National French TV and on the undercard to the biggest fight the kickboxing world has seen this year a £100’000 winner takes all with Mohamed Samir Vs Samir Berbachi in an all French affair.
Super-welterweight Jess will face four time French champion Christophe Landais a tough campaigner with over 40 outings to his credit.
World featherweight kickboxing champion Gary Hamilton will be in the corner as Jess takes to the ring in front of the 10’000 capacity sold out arena in Marseille.
The ever-smiling Mohamed Samir will take part in the 120th fight of his career at the show. He has already won all 119 of the others – though came closest to losing his unblemished record against Hamilton in the Odyssey Arena two years ago.
This time Hamilton says he’ll be on the winning team. “Stuart is a talented young man with a very bright future. We’ve been training him hard. The French audience will be right behind their man and this is quite a test for him. But he’s ready and he’ll return ready to defend his European Super Welterweight full contact title and hopefully move towards bigger titles.”
The event will be broadcast live to millions on France’s sporting channel Canal Plus.
