World kickboxing champion come professional boxer, Gary Hamilton is to turn coach as he takes one of Northern Ireland’s brightest kickboxing hopes to France for the biggest fight of his life.
Hamilton will be in the corner as Saintfield’s super welterweight Stuart Jess takes to the ring in front of an 8000 capacity arena in Marseille. Jess a late substitute with the match made at 70kg will face four time French champion Christophe Landais on the undercard of kickboxing sensation Mohamed Samir. The ever-smiling Samir will take part in the 116th fight of his career at the show. He has already won all 115 of the others – though came closest to losing his unblemished record against Hamilton in Belfast’s Ulster Hall two years ago.
This time Hamilton says he’ll be on the winning team.
“Stuart is a talented young man with a very bright future. We’ve been training him hard. The French audience will be right behind their man and this is quite a test for him. But he’s ready and he’ll return ready to defend his European Super Welterweight full contact title and hopefully move towards bigger titles.”
The event will be broadcast live to millions on France’s sporting channel Canal Plus. For more information check back here at ProKick.com
