Derry fight fans were treated to the biggest and best kickboxing event ever to hit the North West as the ProKick Road show rolled into the Millennium Forum for the first time, sponsored by Schwarzkopf. Martial art fans witnessed home-grown fighters win two big European titles and an all-Ireland super heavyweight crown too. The ProKick team lost only two matches out of a staggering 10 international bouts - but local Derry kickboxer Darryn McCallion thinks he won the biggest prize of all.
Darryn entered the Derry Journal’s competition for tickets and everything a beginner needs to start as a kickboxer.
Darryn who trains at the PT Gym in Letterkenny said, “I couldn’t believe that I got the call about winning the big prize from the Derry Journal, I’ve just started kickboxing two weeks ago and now I have all the gear to train in, wow! Christmas really has come early for me.
“ It was a great night of action and I can’t wait until the next one, I’m off home now to try all the gear on.”
Talks are still on going about a ProKick club opening in Derry City, if you know of a hall that would be suitable for a ProKick class please contact Billy Murray on 028 9065 1074 or Email info@ProKick.com
