Though this may look like a scene from movie classic The Usual Suspects, the quartet are in no mood to play the fools. The four of them are all set to appear later this month at a glitzy black tie kickboxing event – the annual ProKick Awards Bash and Mash set for the Hilton Hotel on Feb 23. Following the handing down of gongs celebrating the best in kickboxing talent nationwide, the four men – Mark Bird, Barrie Oliver, Ian Young, Gary Hamilton – will take to the ring in a series of exhibition bouts. “Every year after the awards and dinner we show some of our brightest talent in action,” said ProKick founder and kickboxing legend Billy Murray. “Those lucky enough to get a ticket for the ceremony are in for a rare treat. We have a world champion in Gary Hamilton, a European champ in Ian Young and two of the brightest hopes for the future in Mark and Barrie Oliver. “They all better perform to their abilities or else I’ll be putting them in a line-up and questioning them to find out why.”
Hosting for the black tie sumptuous dinner event is BBC's 'Jumping' Joe Lindsay.
Tickets are on sale priced at £40 for members of ProKick, £50 for non-members - further information ring 028 9065 1074 or see www.prokickshop.com
