Event Details
BELFAST’S Gary Hamilton has landed himself another crack at reigning as a world kickboxing champion as his career enters a last-chance saloon. The 33-year-old, who held the WKN’s featherweight title for several years, and challenged the great Mohammad Samir in an epic encounter at the Ulster Hall in 2005, will return to the city’s historic fight venue in December.
The news of Hamilton’s opportunity to return to the top comes exactly 24 years to the day that his coach, Billy Murray, stunned the sport to defeated American Richard Hill for the ISKA world welterweight belt, at the Ulster Hall.
Hamilton will showdown against the current world champion Daniel Zarha of Malta on December 14, headlining a fight card that will show how Murray’s Prokick Gym has churned out fighters ready to challenge for major amateur and professional titles. The return of the popular KICKmas show to the Ulster Hall, promoted by Prokick and Billy Murray, will include emerging talents such as Karl McBlain who lifted the WKN European Thai-Boxing title in Italy recently. McBlain is now a European amateur champion in three different disciplines, Full-Contact - kickboxing, K1-style kickboxing and Thai-Boxing. The knock-out specialist won all his titles away from home - Cyprus, Scotland and last week in Sardinia. He is really looking forward to fighting in front of his home fans. Billy Murray said: “Christmas has come early for the sport of kickboxing in Ireland. KICKmas has returned, and with it a world title shots for Gary Hamilton, Karl McBlain, Darren McMullan and Ursula Agnew. What more could any fight fan wish for this festive season? How about another four title fights - three of them European and a British title? Ulster Hall fight fans will also see a special fight attraction by MMA and kickboxing star Yoaan Kongolo, he will face tough guy, Dubliner Aidan Brooks. “We will have a fight card that will have fans anticipating another great night of action at the Ulster Hall. I remember all my fights at the Ulster Hall especially my 1989 title win as if it was yesterday; I can still hear that crowd screaming, and I know 2013 will be just the same.”

This promises to be a night to remember, a great fight card with great local fighters, (Team Pro Kick ) chasing glory in World , European and British Title fights and a superb International Prestige match up at 80 kgs in Kongola v Brooks.
Northern Ireland has had some great fight nights over the years and with so many Titles up for grabs it will be a long time before Ulster fight fans see another Fight Card of such quality.
So, book your tickets now , leave it too late and you may well be disappointed , Ulster Hall fight cards are special occasions and this Kickmas Special is certainly going to be a Christmas Cracker.
Good luck to all Team Pro Kicks fighters , I’ll be ringside with my son and I am looking forward to celebrating with Team Pro Kicks Newly Crowned Champions at the after fight party. Regards.
